Outer Banks season 3: Chase Stokes shares major renewal update – Netflix Life

Fans are not the only ones waiting patiently for Outer Banks season 3 news. According to a report from Us Weekly, Chase Stokes and the rest of the Outer Banks cast are doing the same.
It’s been several months since Outer Banks season 2 premiered, and everyone is wondering what’s up with Outer Banks season 3, is the Netflix show renewed for another season, when the Outer Banks season 3 release date will be, and what’s going to happen in the new season.
Luckily, Stokes, who stars as John B in the Netflix original series, shared a renewal update with Us Weekly in December 2021.
Technically, no. Not yet, anyway.
Chase told Us Weekly that the cast is “still patiently waiting, just sitting back trying to figure out when it’s going to happen or if they’re going to give us the call.”
So, that’s kind of a bummer. We thought Outer Banks would be renewed for season 3 and fully in the works right now.
It’s possible that things are happening behind the scenes are holding up the renewal. We haven’t heard anything, but sometimes, the cast negotiates raises after season 2 of some shows. We also know Netflix might be taking a little bit longer to see the scripts and then moving forward with multiple seasons. That’s happened before.
We shared what Stokes told Us Weekly below:
“We’ve got such a talented team of writers and so we always leave it up to them to sort of figure out the story. And every time we get a script it’s just kind of blowing our seats off so I’m just excited to get my hands on it when and hopefully Netflix gives us the green light,” he said in December 2021. “We’re still patiently waiting, just sitting back trying to figure out when it’s going to happen or if they’re going to give us the call, if we’re not going to get the call, so you know. … We’re kind of in limbo right now. Obviously, the fans want it, we want to do it, so if the timing’s right, we’ll see, but fingers crossed.”
There is a report that Outer Banks is already renewed for season 3 and season 4 from Small Screen. That has not been confirmed, but it’s very interesting.
I’m hoping we’re going to see a two-season renewal for Outer Banks and both seasons would be filmed back to back, which could be very good for cutting down the release time between season 3 and season 4, but I’m getting way ahead of myself now. We need Netflix to officially announce Outer Banks season 3 first!
There was the recent rumor that Outer Banks was canceled, but clearly, that was wrong. Stokes basically confirmed they are still waiting, so Netflix has definitely not canceled the series. Could it happen? Unlikely, but I guess it’s possible (no matter how much I don’t want to think about it or admit it).
Assuming Outer Banks season 3 is happening, and it seems to be up in the air right now, we’re probably in for quite the wait for Outer Banks season 3 now.
We thought that there was a good chance we’d see the Outer Banks season 3 release date in the summer of 2022, and that’s what Small Screen reported. But, with no renewal news yet, we have to imagine that Outer Banks season 3 is getting pushed back to fall 2022, at the earliest, and it might be winter or even 2023 before we see the new season.
There were some rumors that production was scheduled to begin in January 2022, but that seems, well, rather unlikely given what Stokes told Us Weekly.
For now, we’re still hoping to see Outer Banks season 3 in the second half of 2022. If production starts in January, we could definitely see the series by August or September 2022. Things would have to move really quickly, but it’s possible.
If Outer Banks season 3 is on the way next year, it’ll definitely be one of the best Netflix shows coming in 2022.
So, that’s our best hope for the Outer Banks season 3 release date right now. Stay tuned for more information about the new season.
